What is Hey Baker!?
Hey Baker! is a new way to bake with your kids. We provide subscription boxes filled with recipes and pre-measured ingredients to have an awesome time and make delicious treats. We also offer one-off boxes.
We know baking with kids can be challenging, but it can be such an awesome time for everyone, that we want to make it as easy as possible. Baking should be fun and delicious, so we came up with Hey Baker! to take the stress out of the process.
What’s inside a Hey Baker! box?
Each Hey Baker! subscription box contains all the dry ingredients you need to make three included recipes. We list out everything you need from your fridge (or the supermarket), and if there are any particular utensils or gadgets you might need (but we like to limit it to stuff most home cooks would have).

Can I sign up for just one box?
You can cancel a subscription at any time, so you could sign up and cancel your subscription once you’ve gotten your first box. Otherwise, check out our one-off boxes in the shop.
Do you cater to allergies and intolerances?
Great question. We definitely hope to in time, but at this stage we don’t. To be sure we’re offering genuinely allergen-free products would require separate processing facilities that we currently don’t have.
Stay tuned though – we’re looking into how we can introduce the following boxes as soon as possible:

What age groups is Hey Baker! for?
It’s hard to give a definitive answer on this one, but kids from as young as 2 or 3 will be able to “help” in the kitchen. The kits should be fun for kids up to 10-12, and by that age parents should be able to watch from afar (except for dealing with ovens, mixers, and hot stuff).
And while our kits are designed to cook with kids, it doesn’t mean adults can’t do it alone. Especially the Chocdown box we’ve released for Victorians in lockdown.
Where do you source your ingredients?
We try to source Australian-made where possible, and the vast majority of our ingredients are indeed Australian. Some things are really hard (or impossible) to get made locally (particularly chocolate and cocoa), but we’re always looking for great suppliers.
Is your packaging environmentally friendly?
Yes! We’ve designed Hey Baker! to have as little environmental impact as possible. It was the first hurdle when we first had the idea – we didn’t want to be sending plastic bags for small amounts of ingredients.
All Hey Baker! ingredients come packaged in cellophane bags. This looks and feels like plastic, but is made entirely from plant material. The bags are compostible in your home compost, or can be thrown in the trash. That’s still better than plastic, though, because they will biodegrade in landfill far quicker than plastic would.
For ensuring everything arrives safely, we also use paper wrapping around the ingredients, and it is all sent in a cardboard box. These are both recyclable.
Finally, we sometimes need to ship in satchels. One of our shipping partners (Sendle) has 100% biodegradable satchels that we use if possible. Unfortunately, Australia Post’s satchels are made from plastic, but make it far more economical to send smaller parcels to regional Australia – particularly our single recipe boxes.
Subscriptions
How does a Hey Baker subscription work?
If you subscribe, we deliver a monthly box of goodness for just $25 or $49 (for one or three recipes) including shipping. Cut-off date for orders and subscriptions is the 24th of each month. We bill you on the 26th of each month and ship out at the start of the following month.
When is the monthly deadline? When will I receive my first box?
Subscription cut-off is the 24th of each month. We charge customers on the 26th, and ship at the start of the following month.
Delivery times will vary depending on where you live.
How can I cancel or change my subscription?
To cancel or change your subscription, just sign in to your account and you can quickly cancel or suspend the subscription. The account area will also allow you to do all of the following:
- Cancel or Suspend an active subscription
- Reactivate a suspended subscription
- Resubscribe an expired or canceled subscription
- Pay for a renewal order when the automatic recurring payment failed
- Change the Payment Method used for automatic recurring payments
- Change Address for subscriptions which require shipping

Can I choose what’s in my Hey Baker! subscription?
We think half the fun of Hey Baker! is getting a surprise every month. If you’re after particular items, check out our one-off range. We pick the best three recipes each month based on the time of year and all the feedback from our awesome community.
Can I give Hey Baker! as a gift?
Absolutely! If it’s a one-off box, you can just change the address to your recipient’s mailing address.

Payment & Pricing
How much does it cost? Are there hidden fees?
Our subscription boxes are $25 per month for one recipe, or $49 per month for three recipes, and contain everything you need to bake the included recipe(s). There are no hidden fees – even shipping is included.
How does billing work?
It can be a bit complicated, but hopefully this makes things clear:
- If you sign up for a subscription before the 24th of the month, you will be charged on the 26th of that month and your box of goodies shipped at the start of the following month.
- If you sign up for a subscription after the 24th of the month, you will be charged on the 26th of the following month and shipping of your goodies will happen at the start of the month after that.
- One-off products are charged immediately upon checkout.

How can I get a refund?
What a bummer. If you’ve got an issue with your box, get in touch and we’ll figure something out.

We ship Australia-wide. Depending on where you live, we’ll either ship by courier using Sendle or via Australia Post.
Can I give Hey Baker! as a gift?
